Good morning, Roatan! Overnight West Bay and West End each picked up half an inch of rain, Sandy Bay got a little rain, and places to the east of that stayed mostly dry, though here on Jonesville Point we got .02 of an inch. Based on the satellite images, I would guess Guanaja got some rain too.

Today will be partly cloudy with northeast winds 5-10 mph and seas 2-3 feet on the north side. We will have about a 40 percent chance of seeing a shower today. Starting tomorrow the winds get very calm and switch to the east. Seas will be 1-2 feet (some days flat calm) most of the week and we will stay dry. Have a great Sunday!

Good morning, Roatan! Yesterday afternoon we got a rainy, cool, island autumn day! We were in the mid-70s and we got rainfall totals between half an inch and an inch and a half, adding to what we had already gotten. This morning the clouds and rain are to our east and mostly moving away from us. I would imagine Guanaja got rain this morning, while Roatan has been dry since midnight. The northside is still choppy.

Today we will have partly cloudy skies and a 40 percent chance of rain, especially this evening, and a 60 percent chance of a shower tonight. Winds will be north/northeast at 10-15 mph and seas on the northside. Tomorrow there will be a chance of a morning shower, but then mostly sunny with northeast winds 5-10 mph and seas on the northside 2-3 feet.

As we’ve been saying for a while, the week ahead looks nice, with mild winds shifting back to the east, seas 1-2 feet on the southside and only a very small chance of getting a passing shower. Have a great weekend!

Oct. 21, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Today and tonight are forecast to be the rainiest and windiest 24 hours of our norther. As you can see in the satellite, there is good rain north of us and it is moving toward the southeast. Seas are already 2-3 feet on the north side and should pick up as the day goes on, perhaps to 5-6 feet this evening and overnight, so be careful on the sea. Winds should also pick up from the north, 15-23 mph by evening. We are looking for another 2-3 inches on top of what we have already had today and tonight. On the bright side, rain looks much less tomorrow, with about a 40 percent chance of rain, especially in the morning and north winds around 15 mph. Seas will still be fairly strong on the northside at 4-5 feet. Sunday we will have about a 30 percent chance of a passing shower and winds from the north around 5 mph and seas at 2 feet on the north side. The week ahead looks mostly dry with only a small chance of a passing shower and fairly calm winds and seas turning back from the east. Have a great day and carry an umbrella.

Good morning. As you can see from radar, there is rain around, especially north and west of Roatan. As of 7 a.m. Utila has picked up .75 of an inch. Yesterday a little after noon West End picked up an inch of rain and Sandy Bay 2-2.5 inches in a downpour. Today we will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers. Winds and seas are calm, but seas should pick up on the north side tonight into tomorrow to 2-3 feet and perhaps 4 feet Friday night into Saturday morning. Rain will be off-and-on through Sunday morning. I think the heaviest rains should be tonight and tomorrow night. Total rainfall predictions through Sunday morning are around 4 inches, but could be more in some areas, so watch for areas of flooding. After Sunday morning, the week ahead looks dry. Have a great Thursday!

Oct. 19, 2022: Good morning Roatan. Our Norther is getting closer. In advance of the front you can see an area of clouds and showers just to the west of Utila this morning. That should move east during the day. We will have increasing clouds and an increasing chance of a shower during the day with fairly calm winds switching to the west and 1 foot seas. Rain chances are good tonight and tomorrow and very good on Friday, with rain very heavy at times. Thursday and especially Friday should be very fresh with temperatures nearing 70 on Friday morning. North winds Friday evening into Saturday morning 12-17 mph will give us 3-4 foot seas on the north side. Rain should be less on Saturday and end Sunday morning. Right now next week looks dry. Have a great Wednesday!

Oct. 18, 2022

Good morning. Our norther is now in the Gulf of Mexico and will bring us cooler weather and rain, probably on Thursday night into Friday. Right now it doesn’t look like it should bring us a lot of wind.

Today winds will get calmer as the day goes on and seas will calm to 1-2 feet. Tonight winds will be back around 15 mph and seas around 2 feet. Tomorrow east winds will be 10 mph. Both days will be mostly sunny.

Thursday will be mostly calm, but what winds we have will start to be from the north. Rain chance is best overnight into Friday. Right now Friday’s north winds only should be around 10 mph, but the sea on the north side should be 2-3 feet. Rain chances continue through Saturday into Sunday morning, after which we should dry out. There are early indications of another norther coming a week from Thursday. We’ll keep an eye on it. Have a great Tuesday!

Oct. 17, 2022: Good morning, Roatan. There is some disagreement as to how windy and rainy it will get Thursday and especially Friday, so I decided to do a video to talk about the differences.

Winds should calm today to 5-10 mph and seas to 2 feet. Tonight winds will be from the east at 15 mph and seas at 3 feet. Tomorrow winds will calm again to 5 mph and seas 1-2 feet. Wednesday and Thursday should continue calm, but Thursday is the day our rain chances start and go through the day Friday with at least a light north wind, and perhaps a stiff north wind. Have a great week.

Good morning! Rain totals between a quarter and three quarters of an inch were common around the island last night, though West Bay missed out with only .02 of an inch. There are a few showers out to sea and there is a small chance we’ll see another one this morning, but it should be mainly sunny today with east winds 15 mph and seas at 3 feet. Tomorrow through Wednesday winds should be quite calm with seas 1-2 feet and only a small chance of getting a shower. Our norther arrives Thursday. It is uncertain how much wind we will get, but we should get some rain Thursday and Friday and perhaps Saturday. Have a great day!

Oct. 15, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! On the satellite this morning you can see an area of showers that will give us a 50/50 chance of rain tonight. Today should be mostly sunny with east winds at 15 mph and seas at 3 feet calming to 2 feet by afternoon. Tomorrow there will be a chance of a shower in the morning, then clearing in the afternoon and windy, with east winds 17-22 mph and seas at 4 feet. Monday through next week should be calmer, with winds 5-10 mph and seas 1-2 feet during the day and 10-15 mph at night. A norther is in the forecast, with rain perhaps starting as early as Thursday afternoon and lasting off and on into Sunday morning with a fresh north breeze. Have a great weekend!

Good morning. This morning we have some high clouds being pushed by Tropical Storm Karl, which is far away from us in the Bay of Campeche. It should continue moving southwest, weakening and away from us. It shouldn’t have an impact on our weather except for perhaps a few clouds today. Chances of rain continue low and mostly at night. The chance of rain goes up a little on Sunday, perhaps to 40 percent. Winds today will be from the east 5-10 mph and seas at 1-2 feet. Tomorrow gets a little windier, with east winds 10-15 mph and seas at 2-3 feet. Winds and seas will be similar Sunday, then a little calmer Monday and Tuesday. There is a norther in the forecast for Friday of next week, which could bring some north winds and rain. Have a great day!
