April 28, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! The system finally brought a little rain between yesterday afternoon and early this morning. West Bay got .08 of an inch around 8 p.m., Sandy Bay got .33 of an inch in the afternoon and through the night, Coral View got half an inch, Punta Blanca got .07, Politilly struck out, and we got .09 here in Jonesville Point.

Most of the rain is now well to our west, but we can’t rule out a stray shower today, especially in the morning hours. Winds will be fairly calm around 5 mph and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters). Altogether, today will be a very nice day.

After a small chance of a shower overnight tonight, tomorrow winds will be from the east 10-15 mph, getting up to 20 mph Friday night. The weekend looks very nice, with moderate winds and 3 foot seas. Next week should turn windier. Have a great Thursday!

April 27, 2022

April 27, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We are starting out the day dry and sunny. The SOL site in Sandy Bay got a third of an inch last night and West Bay, Punta Blanca and Politilly got a few hundredths of an inch last night. Other locations stayed dry the last 24 hours ending 8:30 a.m.

There is still a decent chance of rain today and tonight. Winds will be from the east/northeast at 8-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Rain chances are a little lower tomorrow and tomorrow night, perhaps 40 percent. Winds will be calmer, 5-10 mph during the day and 15 mph at night, with seas 1-2 feet.

Friday we will have a chance of a morning shower and winds will pick up to 10-15 mph during the day and 15-20 mph at night.

The weekend and next week look typical for this time of year, with sunny skies and winds 10-20 mph. Have a great Wednesday!

April 26, 2022

April 26, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Last night Utila picked up .02 of an inch around 6 p.m., but other than that we have been dry. There are scattered showers around the Southern Carribean.

Clouds and showers will be on the increase this afternoon, perhaps a 50 percent chance you will see rain today. Winds will be from the east/northeast at 8-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night we will have decent chances at rain, with forecast models giving most of us half an inch to an inch of rain through the period. Winds will continue from the east/northeast at 8-15 mph and seas at 2 feet.

Thursday rain chances diminish to around 40 percent, especially in the morning with quite calm winds and seas at 1-2 feet.

Friday through Sunday look quite nice with winds starting to pick up at night. Have a great Tuesday!

April 24, 2022

April 24, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Yesterday, the west side of the island picked up more showers and the east side dried out. Sandy Bay picked up a third of an inch, West End half an inch and West Bay .80 of an inch.

There are some clouds this morning to our east but the computers don’t make much of them. We will say mostly sunny skies with only a chance of a stray shower. Winds will be from the east at 10-15 mph during the day and 20 mph at night with 3 foot (1 meter) seas. Monday will be also mostly sunny with similar winds and seas. Tuesday there will be about a 40 percent chance of a shower with partly cloudy skies. Wednesday is the day with the best rain chance, but the chance will continue into Thursday. Next weekend looks to be nice right now. Have a great Sunday!

April 23, 2022

April 23, 2022: Good evening, Roatan. After getting some good rains in the 1 to 2 inch range yesterday, most of us have had very light rainfall today, generally no more than a tenth of an inch. This afternoon most of us are seeing sunny skies.

Tonight we will have a decent chance of seeing a shower. Tomorrow the winds should be around 10 mph from the east, getting up to 15-20 mph Sunday night into Monday. Rain chances increase Tuesday through Thursday, with Wednesday being the best chance at rain. Have a great Saturday!

8 a.m. radar
8 a.m. satellite image

April 22, 2022: Good wet Friday morning, Roatan! The big winners with rain are on the east side, though everyone got in on the fun. Punta Blanca got over an inch this morning and almost an inch around 11 a.m. yesterday for over two inches. Politilly got almost two inches this morning after a third of an inch yesterday. I got nothing yesterday but as of 8 a.m. I have an inch and a quarter and my water tank is grateful. Dave in Coral View Village reports almost an inch. Sandy Bay reports about a third of an inch and West End a half an inch. Larry Rapp between WB and WE got half an inch and West Bay reports 1.15 at 8 a.m. Utila is experiencing a downpour on radar and has an inch and a half and counting. Keep in mind our average for April is less than an inch and a half.

The 8 a.m. satellite shows us in a thick bank of clouds, though the radar shows most of the heavy stuff to our west and over Utila. We will have off-and-on showers under mostly cloudy skies today with east winds around 10 mph and seas 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter). Our best chance to dry out is this afternoon, but even then we can’t rule out a stray shower. Rain returns tonight and tomorrow morning, but our Saturday should also have plenty of sun and near calm winds, giving us a beautiful day. There will be a chance of rain overnight Saturday.

There is some disagreement in the computer models about Sunday. The Euro wants to give us showers during the day and the U.S. GFS wants to keep us mostly sunny, so we will give ourselves a 30 percent chance of rain during the day.

Monday looks like a decent day, but Tuesday through Thursday the rain returns. Have a great Friday!

April 21, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! As of 7:30 a.m. some clouds are moving in from the east, which will give us a chance of a scattered shower through the morning. Winds today will be from the east 5-10 mph, shifting to the northeast tonight at 12-17 mph. Rain chances are higher tonight, and through the day and night tomorrow. Winds tomorrow will be from the east/northeast around 10 mph.

Saturday we will have a chance of early morning showers, then partly sunny skies and near calm conditions.

Saturday night a chance of rain returns but Sunday should be a gorgeous day with mostly sunny skies and calm conditions.

Rain returns mid-week next week.

April 20, 2022

April 20, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! A shower just after nightfall brought .13 of an inch to West Bay, .05 to Larry Rapp between WB and WE, .35 to West End, nearly half an inch to Coral View and nearly a tenth of an inch here in Jonesville Point.

Today will be mostly sunny with east/northeast breezes 7-10 mph during the day and 10-12 mph in the evening, with seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters). There will be a small chance of rain tonight into tomorrow morning. Winds will be quite calm during the day, but Thursday night into Friday and through Saturday there will be a good chance of getting a shower. Rain chances are small Saturday night into Sunday and Monday looks clear, but rain returns for the middle of next week. Have a great Wednesday!

April 19, 2022

April 19, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We had a very calm night last night with winds in the 5 mph range. Yesterday, the West Bay weather station at Turtle Crossing picked up .03 of an inch of rain around noon, but no other gauges on the island picked up any.

Today we will have a north breeze around 5 mph and seas at 1 foot (.3 meters). Late tonight and tomorrow morning, there will be a small chance of a shower with winds that are almost calm and seas 1-2 feet. Thursday morning there is also a small chance of a shower and northeast winds 10-15 mph. Friday and Saturday are days when there will be a good chance of picking up a shower. Mid to late next week also looks to be a period of scattered showers. Have a great Tuesday!

April 18, 2022

April 18, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Finally some calmer conditions are ahead, and a few chances at rain.

Today we will have winds at 7-10 mph and seas around 1 foot (.3 meters). We will have mostly sunny skies and highs around 87 (30c).

Tomorrow winds will be even calmer at 4-7 mph and seas still 1 foot.

Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning we will have maybe a 40 percent chance of a shower. Winds will be back around 10 mph during the day and 15 mph at night from the east/northeast and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters).

Thursday morning the rain chance will be down to around 20 percent, but Friday morning it will be back up to around 40 percent. Have a great week!
