Feb. 9, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! The rain has arrived. As of 8 a.m., Utila already has about an inch. The west side of Roatan is generally around a quarter of an inch as of 8, while the east end has small amounts.
There is a good chance of rain the rest of the day. Winds will switch from west to northwest during the day and build to around 17 mph by evening, giving us seas of 3 feet (1 meter) on the north side by nightfall.
Winds should be calmer tomorrow, from the north 5-10 mph and seas at 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter) on the north side. Rain chances continue, though rain should be heaviest in the morning and less intense in the afternoon.
Friday we will have calm winds and fairly calm seas and only a small chance of a morning shower.
Saturday looks pretty nice, with northeast winds 5-10 mph and a small chance of a shower, mostly in the morning.
Sunday winds and seas should be fairly calm, especially in the morning. Rain chances increase as our next front nears. North winds could be breezy Sunday night into Monday morning giving us heavy seas on the north side. The rain Sunday evening through Tuesday morning looks pretty heavy right now. Have a great Wednesday!
