Jan. 15, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Some of us got a nice shower yesterday afternoon. Larry Rapp in West Bay got a quarter of an inch and I got .18 of an inch, but most other locations picked up no rain yesterday.
Today we will have sunny skies and east winds 15-20 mph and seas 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter). Tomorrow winds turn west, then northwest at 15-22 mph. The rain band should be right along the front, so we may not get a large amount of rain but it could be heavy when it comes. Rain arrival looks like it should be after noon.

Monday winds continue from the north in the 20 mph range and seas on the north side could be quite choppy, in the 3-4 foot range (1 to 1.3 meters). There is also a small chance of a lingering shower behind the front.

Tuesday is the really nice day we get when a front passes through, with cool temperatures. I imagine some folks will start out around 69 (20 C) and not make it quite to 80 (27 C). Winds will still be 10-15 mph from the north.

Chances of showers increase a little Thursday and Friday into the 50 percent range.Have a great weekend!

Jan. 14, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We got a shower just as night fell yesterday good for about a third of an inch, but it looks like most of the island missed out on that, so the last 24 hours starting 7:30 a.m. have been a time to dry out from the rain.

Today should be mostly sunny and fairly calm, so a great day to get out on the waters.Tomorrow the east winds return for one day only, at 15-20 mph pushing seas to 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter).

Sunday morning should start out nice. The models disagree somewhat about the timing of our next cold front. Some say as early as midday Sunday, bringing us a line of showers and winds turning to the north, others say later in the day to overnight on Sunday. Whenever it arrives, most of the rain should be right on the front and after it passes things may clear out considerably.

Right now Monday looks like a windy day, with brisk north winds and possibly high seas on the north side. We should also get a good shot of cool air, meaning that some of us should see lows in the upper 60s. Have a great Friday!

Jan. 13, 2022

Jan. 13, 2022: Good morning Roatan! Most of us have gotten over 2 inches in the last 24 hours starting and ending at 7:30 a.m. Some of us have gotten over 2 inches just sine midnight.
Rain showers and calm winds and seas will continue today, tonight and into tomorrow morning, but things should start clearing out tomorrow afternoon. Saturday should be sunny with east winds 15-20 mph returning.

Sunday the winds will start shifting to the west and showers may get here as early as Sunday afternoon in advance of our next cold front.

Monday looks rainy and windy with north winds 15-20 mph and seas at 3-4 feet (1-1.3 meters) primarily on the north side. The first part of next week we’ll have scattered showers.

Have a great Thursday!

Jan. 12, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We’ve had rain off and on for the last 24 hours. Punta Blanca received an inch and a quarter. Here on Jonesville Point we got .81 of an inch. West Bay and Sandy Bay each got under half an inch. Utila got just under an inch. It’s been nice an cool. At 7:30 a.m. we are at 73 (22.8 C) after a morning low of 71 (21.6 C).

Expect scattered showers and peaks of sun through the day with continued light winds and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters). Expect the same conditions tomorrow.

Friday should have a lower chance of rain and Saturday and most of Sunday look very nice.

There is a cold front expected Monday into Tuesday that should bring rain, but also potentially some brisker north winds and cool temperatures. Have a great Wednesday!

Jan. 11, 2022

Jan 11, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Overnight most of us picked up at least a little rain. West Bay got more than a little with .41 of an inch. We also had a cooler night than we’ve been used to. Temperatures fell into the low 70s.

Today doesn’t look quite as rainy as we originally thought. There will be a small chance of a scattered shower throughout the day. Winds should be relatively low from the northwest at 5-10 mph and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters).

This will be a relatively calm week with winds and waves, but a week where there will be scattered showers. Right now Saturday looks like a nice day with little chance of rain. Sunday will remain calm but with a small chance of rain. Have a great Tuesday.

Oh, and by the way, HOW BOUT DEM DAWGS!!!!!!

Jan. 9, 2022

Jan. 9, 2022: Good morning Roatan! We’ve had a pretty quiet, but breezy 24 hours Saturday morning through this morning.Today will be our last really windy day for awhile. We’ll have mostly sunny skies and east winds 17-25 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter).Tonight we will have increasing clouds and a chance of showers.

Tomorrow we will have winds from the east 12-17 mph switching to the northeast late in the day. There will be a good chance of rain through the day.

Tuesday we will have north-northwest winds at a gentle 3-7 mph and seas at 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters). There will be a good chance of rain all day, but especially in the morning.

There will be a good chance of rain Wednesday through Friday, but right now next weekend looks like it should be nice. Have a great Sunday!

Jan. 8, 2022

Jan 8, 2022: Good morning Roatan! There have been scattered showers about the island. About 3:30 this morning the east side picked up about a tenth of an inch. Sandy Bay is picking up a small shower as I write at 7:30 a.m. Based on the satellite, I’d bet Guanaja got a nice shower this morning.

There will be a small chance of a scattered shower this morning, but otherwise partly cloudy. Winds will pick up in the afternoon back toward 20 mph and seas at 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter).

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and windy, with east winds 17-25 mph and seas at 3 feet.

Monday we will have increasing clouds as a cold front gets closer, but the rain will be scattered. Tuesday the rain chances will be better and Wednesday through Thursday morning looks like the best chances of consistent rain. Winds will be from the north but very light through the period, so even with the rain it may be a good time to get out on the sea. Have a great weekend!

Jan. 7, 2022

Jan. 7, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! This morning we have some high clouds moving in from the west, but it is unlikely they will bring any rain. Today should continue windy, with east winds 17-23 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter).

The models are becoming less convinced we will have rain tonight and tomorrow morning, so we will lower the chance of rain to 40 percent. We will still have clouds around tomorrow. Winds will continue strong at 15-25 mph and seas at 3 feet.

Sunday will be sunny with winds 15-20 mph and seas at 2-3 feet. Monday the weather starts changing as a cold front approaches from the north. Winds will lower to 10-15 mph and there will be scattered showers.

Tuesday should be quite calm, but rainy, and showers will continue off and on through the week as the cold front stalls near us. Have a great Friday!

Jan. 6, 2022

Jan. 6, 2022: Well, I feel pretty secure in saying there’s a chance of a passing shower this morning, since we are getting a light shower on Jonesville Point right now (at 8:30 a.m.). There are clouds moving in from the east so we will have a partly to mostly cloudy day, at least into the afternoon. Winds will be from the east at 17-25 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter).

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with increasing clouds in the afternoon. East winds will be 17-22 mph and seas at 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter).

Tomorrow night into Saturday morning there will be a decent chance of showers. Winds will continue 17-22 but seas will be 3-4 feet (1-1.3 meters).

Sunday will be sunny and breezy.Monday the winds start calming and the rain chances start going up. Those rain chances continue through midweek next week as a cold front should stall over us or just to our north.Have a great Thursday!

Jan. 5, 2022

Jan. 5, 2022: Good morning Roatan! Most of us got a small shower around 3:30 this morning. Rain totals were generally between a tenth and two tenths of an inch. We will keep a very small chance of a scattered shower through the morning. Otherwise our calm winds will continue through the day. Seas are calmer than we’ve seen them in awhile and will stay 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters).

Tomorrow the winds returns with 15-20 mph east winds staying with us through the weekend. There will be small chances of overnight showers through the weekend, but the best chance will be on Saturday morning. The next good wave of rain comes midweek next week starting on Tuesday. Have a great Wednesday!
