July 22, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! This morning is quite blustery. I made to up to 30 mph this morning on the wind gauge. Most of us got a little rain. I got .03 of an inch, but West Bay and West End got almost a fifth of an inch overnight. Scattered showers and wind will be the rule of today, with chances about 50 percent today and about 80 percent tonight. Winds may calm a bit from where they are, but will remain around 20 mph, except in squalls when they will gust to 25-30 mph. Seas will be 3-5 feet (1 to 1.6 meters).

Tomorrow will remain windy, but should be drier, especially in the afternon.

Sunday looks like the next really nice day, with mostly sunny skies, east winds around 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Rain chances should be fairly low and mostly at night next week. Monday and Tuesday look to be fairly calm, with winds picking up Wednesday into the end of the week. Have a great Friday!

July 18, 2022

July 18, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Many of us awoke to a downpour. West End picked up an inch in a very short period of time. As you can see from the 7 a.m. satellite image, my home in Jonesville Point managed to fit into a notch in the clouds and my cistern totally missed out on the fun. After this system passes, we should see partly cloudy skies through the middle of the day, but we have a good chance of rain this evening and overnight. Winds should also pick up to 20-25 mph and seas to 4 feet (1.3 meters) this afternoon. Tomorrow, after a possible early morning shower, should be dry and partly to mostly cloudy with winds 20-25 mph and seas to 4 feet.

Wednesday we should see more sun and calmer winds at 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet.

A really good chance of rain comes Friday night into Saturday. Have a great week!

July 17, 2022

July 15, 2022

Dust forecast in the upper levels of the atmosphere for today and tomorrow.

July 15, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We had a dry day yesterday and chances are we will continue dry. We have seen hazy skies and the image here explains why. We are in the middle of a wave of Saharnan dust that will keep our skies hazy, but that should improve tomorrow. Winds have also calmed a bit from the blustery days we’ve had the past couple of days. Winds today will be 15-20 mph from the east/northeast with seas at 2 feet (.6 meters) and tomorrow they will be 10-15 mph with seas at 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters). Chances of rain will be small both days, but perhaps a little better (30 percent) on Sunday night and around 40 percent Monday night. Have a great Friday!

July 13, 2022

July 13, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! We’ve had a somewhat cloudy and windy 24 hours ending 7 a.m., but we’ve all stayed dry. This morning there are some showers to our east and north, but those will decrease as the day goes on. We can’t rule out a stray shower during the day and especially in the afternoon hours. But otherwise, at least until the weekend, we will probably stay dry, and even then, the chances of rain aren’t great.

Today and tomorrow will continue windy, with daytime winds 20-25 mph and 4 foot (1.3 meter) seas and nighttime winds 25-30 mph and 5 foot (1.6 meter) seas. Winds will calm to 15-20 mph Friday into the weekend. Best chance of rain right now looks to be Sunday. Have a great Wednesday!

July 12, 2022
