We will record 6.96 inches from Sandy Bay Point for our official total for July, well above our average of 5.44 inches. Most locations on the east side got 7-8 inches and Guanaja got 7 3/4. West Bay got just over 2 inches and Utila 3 1/2. We have already gotten a third of our average annual precipitation which is pretty good for this time of year, with the really wet months still ahead of us.
August has started out a bit dry and the immediate forecast doesn’t have a whole lot of rain, but a few morning chances can’t be ruled out. August is also the month we start looking out for tropical systems, though in a strong El Nino year those should be fewer.
