Rain totals for January 2022

Rain totals for January 2022: We had 8 inches for the record book and that number was pretty even across the island. That was below our average of 11.19 inches. January is generally the last month of the wet season. We transition into the dry season in February with an average of 5.23 inches. I’ve heard some asking whether our current La Niña conditions will affect our weather. I looked back at La Niña years and couldn’t see a strong difference from average, though the La Niña year of 2016 stands out when we recorded a whopping 25.15 inches of rain in February (what happened there?) Last year we also had quite a wet February with 16.82 inches.
