Jan 2, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Before I begin I want to express my thanks to the RECO crews who worked through the night to get our power back on after somebody ran into a concrete pole on the east side of the island. Working all night on a windy holiday can’t be fun, but you did it and I have power, so, thanks.
Those winds should start calming a bit today, back into the 15-20 mph range but seas will still be up around 4 feet (1.3 meters). We have some clouds moving in from our east that should bring us partly cloudy skies through the middle of the day. I think rain is unlikely, but never say never.
Tomorrow is our day with chances for rain, which should start after noon and continue through the night into Tuesday morning. Predicted totals continue to be light, between a half inch and an inch. Winds Monday and Tuesday should be 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).
Right now Wednesday looks like the nicest day of the week, with little rain chance and winds 5-10 mph and seas at 2 feet. Thursday into the weekend should be mostly dry, but the winds return. Have a great Sunday!
