Satellite at 7:30 a.m.

April 19, 2023: Good morning, Bay Islands! Skies are clear and the only rain on the satellite is on the coast of Guatemala/Honduras, and that isn’t coming anywhere near us. We wake up to winds 15-20 mph and seas at 3 feet. Today and tomorrow daytime winds will be about the same, but nighttime winds will be 20-25 mph and seas 4 feet, not as bad as our winds a couple of weeks ago, but still plenty windy. As we get into the weekend, winds will calm a little and by next week they will calm down quite a bit. But the next two weeks look dry, sad to say. The best hope I can give you is that some models give us better rain chances around the first of May.

Low tide is 2:18 p.m. Have a great Wednesday!

April 18, 2023: Good morning Bay Islands! RAIN, RAIN glorious Rain! It wasn’t a lot, but for many of us it was enough to keep down the dust for a day or two.

Winds are moderate, around 10 mph and seas are around 2 feet on the southside and 3 feet on the northside. Winds should be quite calm today, with seas 1-2 feet. It is possible, but not likely we will see another shower in the morning hours. This afternoon we will clear out and rain chances will be quite low.

Tomorrow through Friday winds will be 15-20 mph and seas 3-4 feet. This weekend winds and seas will calm and we’ll get another small chance of rain, especially Sunday morning.

Low tide is 1:36 p.m. Have a great Tuesday!

April 17, 2023

April 17, 2023: Good morning, Bay Islands. We wake up with some clouds in the western sky and winds around 20 mph and seas 3 feet on the north side and 4 feet on the south side. Winds should get a little calmer as the day goes on, and tomorrow should be super calm.

I am more hopeful about getting some rain tonight.

Satellite at 7 a.m.

I am more hopeful about getting some rain tonight. On the satellite you will see a disturbance over the Yucatan peninsula and Belize.

Rain gauges from Livingston, Guatemala on the coast and toward the west from there have picked up good rain showers up to about half an inch. Those clouds will move in our general direction today. We will have increasing clouds and about a 20 percent chance of a shower this afternoon. The best chance for rain is overnight into tomorrow morning.

The GFS model predicts a widespread area of about half an inch. Let’s hope it is right. It is the most optimistic model right now. The others aren’t so kind. Tomorrow after some morning showers we will have partly cloudy skies, winds 5-10 mph and seas 1-2 feet.

We clear out Wednesday and for the period into the weekend, we will have winds 20-25 mph and seas 3-4 feet under clear skies. Early next week looks calmer with perhaps an isolated shower around.

Low tides are 12:55 p.m. and 1:25 a.m. Have a good week!

April 16, 2023

April 16, 2023: Good morning, Bay Islands! Our winds last night got up to 35 mph and seas to 6 feet, but this morning seas are around 3-4 feet. Winds will be 10-15 mph today under clear skies and seas around 3 feet. Tonight will not be as windy with winds 20-25 mph and seas at 4 feet. Tomorrow and especially Tuesday will be calmer, though not flat calm.
It’s been plenty hot with no clouds to give us relief. It was around 90 degrees in many places yesterday and today will be the same. Tomorrow we will have a few more clouds with a disturbance passing through. We have hopes that some of us will see a shower or two Monday night into Tuesday, though that isn’t a sure thing. The rest of the week looks dry with winds 15-20 mph and seas around 3 feet. Low tides are 12:13 p.m. and 12:43 a.m. Have a great Sunday!

April 15, 2023

April 15, 2023: Good morning Bay Islands. We were back to our windy ways last night. Winds got up to 36 mph and seas to 6 feet. This morning they are around 20 mph and seas at 3 feet on the southside, 2 feet on the northside. We have windy and clear day and night ahead. During the day tomorrow things get a little calmer with winds 10-15 mph and seas 2-3 feet. Tomorrow night winds get up to 20 mph and Monday and Tuesday they will be around 15-20 mph and seas 2-3 feet. Monday night into Tuesday we have a small chance of rain, but other than that we are dry for the week ahead. Low tides are 11:30 a.m. and 11:58 p.m. Have a great weekend!

April 14, 2023

Good morning, Bay Islands. Sorry for missing you yesterday. We wake up to windier conditions. Seas are 3 feet and winds 20-25 mph from the southeast. We are back to super-windy conditions for the weekend. This evening and tomorrow evening winds will be around 35 mph and seas will get up to 6 feet. During the day winds should be around 20-25 mph and seas 3-4 feet.

Satellite at 7:30 a.m.

Today we have some high clouds coming off the coast of Belize. These will again give us a day of hazy to cloudy skies, but no chances of rain today or through the weekend.
Monday winds will calm to 12-17 mph and Tuesday evening calmer with winds 7-12 mph and seas 2-3 feet. Monday night into Tuesday morning we will have our best, and perhaps only, chance of getting a rain shower. Even at that it is only about a 1 in 3 chance, but let’s hope. After that, we continue with dry weather, winds around 20 mph and seas around 3 feet for the rest of next week.

Low tides are 10:45 a.m. and 11:10 p.m. Have a great Friday!

April 12, 2023

April 12, 2023: Good morning Bay Islands! We awake to winds and seas that are slightly higher than yesterday. Winds are 5-10 mph and seas slightly more than 1 foot. Those conditions will continue today, but tonight winds will be 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet. Those conditions will continue through tomorrow.

Satellite image at 7:30 a.m.

This morning some clouds are moving off the coast of Belize and upper level winds are from the west, so we should have a few clouds around this afternoon. Tomorrow there will be quite a few high clouds, so we will have a hazy day, but there is very little chance of rain. Friday winds will be 10-15 mph and seas 2-3 feet. This weekend winds will be 15-20 mph during the day and 20-30 mph at night and seas 3-4 feet. Monday seas will calm to around 2 feet and we will have a chance of rain Monday and Tuesday, especially in the mornings.

There is a minor low tide a 9:03 a.m. and a major low tide at 9:08 p.m. Have a great Wednesday!

April 11, 2023: Good morning, Bay Islands. Yesterday we had some late morning showers around. If you saw some rain let us know in comments. Unfortunately our skies are mostly clear and there aren’t many clouds around. We remain calm and those gorgeous conditions will last through tomorrow. Thursday winds pick up a little bit to 10 mph and seas to 2 feet. Friday through Sunday will be windy with seas up to 5 feet, but starting Monday we get calmer again. The rest of the week looks pretty dry. There will be a small chance of rain next Monday and Tuesday.

Low tide is 7:51 p.m. Have a great Tuesday!

April 10, 2023

April 10, 2023: Good morning Bay Islands. Our seas are almost flat calm this morning and will continue that way through the day.

Satellite at 6:45 a.m.

We have some slow-moving clouds to the east of Guanaja and they may hold together to bring Guanaja and perhaps the east side of Roatan clouds and a shower or two around 9 a.m., but they will decrease as the morning goes on.

Today through Thursday we will continue to have calm winds and seas and a chance of a morning shower each day. We are still looking for more winds Friday through Sunday and a chance of showers coming out of the north around the 17th and 18th, though those chances aren’t great.

Low tide is 6:23 p.m. Have a great week!

April 9, 2023

Satellite at 7 a.m.

April 9, 2023: Good morning, Bay Islands! We have a few clouds around, but nothing to worry about (or hope for) with any rain in them. We have southeast winds at 10 mph and seas at 2 feet. Winds will stay light, seas 1-2 feet and skies mostly sunny today. Calm winds and seas will last through Thursday. I believe someone will see a morning shower between now and Thursday, but there won’t be many of them. This coming weekend we’re back to dry and windy. The long-range forecast is still trying to bring us a norther the 18th or 19th, but those are highly unusual this time of year so we’ll just wait and see. Low tide is 5:05 p.m. Have a great Sunday and be careful on those crowded beaches!
