Feb. 15, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! As of 8 a.m. the rain totals since midnight Sunday/Monday are as follows:

Most of us have picked up between a quarter and half an inch since midnight.

I expect rain to continue today, probably lighter than than we experienced yesterday. Winds will be mostly around 15 mph from the southwest giving us 3 foot (1 meter) seas.

Wednesday should be quite nice with only a small chance of a stray morning shower. It will be mostly sunny with winds light and variable and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters)

Starting Thursday and into the weekend we get our east winds at 15-20 mph. Saturday and Sunday rain chances go up a little to around 40 percent. Have a great Tuesday!

Feb. 14, 2022

Feb. 14, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! The biggest concentration of rain has definitely been to our west. Utila already has 2 inches as of 8 a.m. Most of us on the island are still under an inch, though I have picked up .7 in the hour between 7 and 8 a.m. here on Jonesville Point.

Rain is forecast to continue today, tonight and tomorrow, especially in the morning. There will be some breaks in the rain and the clouds from time to time. Today the winds will be from the northeast at 20 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter) especially on the north side. Winds should be a little calmer tomorrow.

Wednesday should be a beautiful day. We dry out and winds should be 5-10 mph. Thursday through Saturday should be dry and windy with east winds 17-22 mph. Rain may return on Sunday.

The European model forecast for rainfall until Tuesday morning. forecasts 3-4 inches total.
The US GFS forecast model predicts 4-5 inches of rain by noon on Tuesday.

Feb. 13, 2022: Good Super Bowl Sunday morning Roatan! Most of today will actually be nice, but starting tonight through Tuesday morning the weather looks wet.

Today we will have mostly clear skies, but increasing clouds during the evening. Winds will be from the east about 10 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Tonight the rain arrives around nightfall and continues through the night and through your Monday. On Monday winds will be northeast 10-15 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter) on the north side.

Rain continues Monday night and into Tuesday morning. The map you see here is the Euro model which gives us 3-4 inches by Tuesday morning. The US GFS model predicts 4-5 inches by noon on Tuesday. Tuesday winds will switch to the west at 15 mph, giving the north side 3-4 foot waves (1-1.3 meters).

Rain should end around midday Tuesday. Winds will be fairly calm Tuesday and Wednesday and Wednesday morning we will have a chance of a morning shower.

Thursday into the weekend looks like a return to Typical Roatan Weather with east winds 15-20 mph, seas 2-3 feet especially on the south side and low to no rain chance. Have a great Sunday!

Feb. 12, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Most of us picked up around a quarter of an inch in a mid-morning shower yesterday.

Today rain is very unlikely. We will have an east breeze 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet. (.6 meters)

Tomorrow we will have a small chance of a morning shower, but mostly nice with winds shifting to the northeast 3-7 mph and seas at 1 foot. (.3 meters). Clouds build through the day and rain arrives late, giving us a rainy Sunday night and rainy Monday. Winds Monday will be from the north 10-15 mph and seas 3 feet (1 meter) on the north side.

Tuesday, the rain continues. Wednesday there is about a 40 percent chance of rain. Thursday into the weekend we should get more Typical Roatan Weather with gusty east winds and dry conditions. Have a great weekend!

Feb. 11, 2022: Good morning Roatan! After our early morning rains yesterday, most of us picked up a midday shower, but generally the total of that rain was no more than a quarter of an inch.

Today we will have light winds and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters). There will be a small chance of a morning shower.

Overnight and into tomorrow morning there will again be a small chance of a shower. Tomorrow will be a little windier, with east winds 10-15 mph. Seas will be 2 feet.

Sunday winds turn to the northeast at 5-10 mph and rain chances are better toward the afternoon and evening hours as our next front approaches.

Monday winds are from the east/northeast 10-15 mph and seas 3-4 feet (1 to 1.3 meters) with a chance of rain throughout the day. Rain chances continue into Tuesday.

Feb. 10, 2022: Good morning Roatan! The island got a good soaking yesterday and last night, especially the west side. West Bay picked up 4.5 inches, West End 3.96, Sandy Bay 4.07, Coral View 1.76, Politilly 1.51, and here in Jonesville Point, only .75, most of it overnight. Utila got 1.16, but almost all of it was yesterday morning.

Today we should see decreasing clouds and only a low chance of a passing shower. Winds will be from the northwest at 3-7 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Tomorrow winds and seas will continue light with only a small chance of a morning shower.

Saturday winds will be from the east 5-10 mph and seas at 2 feet with a slight chance of a morning shower.

Sunday winds turn to the northeast and rain returns.

Monday rain continues and things could get windier, though the computer models aren’t in agreement as to whether the north wind will be that bad.

Feb. 9, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! The rain has arrived. As of 8 a.m., Utila already has about an inch. The west side of Roatan is generally around a quarter of an inch as of 8, while the east end has small amounts.

There is a good chance of rain the rest of the day. Winds will switch from west to northwest during the day and build to around 17 mph by evening, giving us seas of 3 feet (1 meter) on the north side by nightfall.

Winds should be calmer tomorrow, from the north 5-10 mph and seas at 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter) on the north side. Rain chances continue, though rain should be heaviest in the morning and less intense in the afternoon.

Friday we will have calm winds and fairly calm seas and only a small chance of a morning shower.

Saturday looks pretty nice, with northeast winds 5-10 mph and a small chance of a shower, mostly in the morning.

Sunday winds and seas should be fairly calm, especially in the morning. Rain chances increase as our next front nears. North winds could be breezy Sunday night into Monday morning giving us heavy seas on the north side. The rain Sunday evening through Tuesday morning looks pretty heavy right now. Feb. 8, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Some locations got a brief downpour yesterday afternoon. As I look out my window the sea looks like glass. Winds should get a little higher this afternoon in the 10-15 mph range from the west, giving the north side 2 foot (.6 meter) waves. There is a very small chance of a popup shower today.

Tomorrow winds will turn to the north at 12-18 mph giving us 3 foot seas (1 meter) especially on the north side. Tomrrow there will be a good chance of rain throughout the day.

Thursday winds should be around 10 mph and seas at 2-3 feet. Rain will continue, mostly in the morning.

Morning rains will follow us into Friday with winds fairly calm.

A second cold front approaches Sunday evening, and that one looks like it will pass through, giving us brisk north winds and waves on the north side. Overall we have an unsettled week ahead. Have a great Tuesday!

Feb. 7, 2022: Good morning, Roatan. We had a cool morning, like we often have right after a cold front. Sandy Bay recorded a low of 67 (19.4 C), just one degree from our all-time low. After a couple of warm days, we should get another cold front starting Wednesday that will give us wet and cool weather.

Today will be a beautiful day, with light winds and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters).

Tomorrow winds will turn to the west 7-12 mph and seas continue 1-2 feet.

Wednesday west/northwest winds will be around 20 mph and seas could get up to 4 feet (1.3 meters) on the north side with a good chance of rain through the day. Those rain chances continue through Thursday when winds turn to the north at 10 mph and seas at 3 feet (1 meter).

Rain chances may get a little lower over the weekend before another front on Monday.

Feb. 6, 2022: Good morning Roatan! We’ve been pretty wet, with a nice rain yesterday (on the eastside) and overnight (islandwide). Most location on the west side only got less than a tenth of an inch yesterday, while here on Jonesville Point we got 1.2 inches. This morning the west side (as of 8:30 a.m.) has gotten between and inch and an inch and a half, while here we have gotten 2.8 inches.

Today we will have decreasing clouds through the day with a chance of a shower mostly in the morning. Winds will be very calm and seas 1-2 feet (.3 to .6 meters).

Tomorrow should be very nice, with fairly calm winds and seas. Tuesday winds should come up to about 10 mph from the west with 2 feet (.6 meter) seas.

Wednesday through the weekend we will have decent rain chances each day with north winds 10-15 mph. Looks like rainy season isn’t done with us yet. Have a great Sunday!
