March 21, 2022: Good morning Roatan! We had a few clouds yesterday and, I believe, exactly five raindrops, but nothing measureable here on Jonesville Point.

Today might not be quite as windy as we have been experiencing. Winds will be east 12-17 mph during the day with 2-3 foot seas (.6 to 1 meter). Tonight winds will be around 20 mph.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be quite windy at 17-22 mph during the day and 22-27 mph in the evening and 3-5 foot (1 to 1.6 meter) seas.

Thursday the winds should calm to 5-10 mph and Friday we will have a small chance of morning rain. There is a decent chance of rain over the weekend into Monday. Have a great week!

March 20, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Today there will be a small chance of rain, especially overnight, but we can’t rule out a popup shower during the day either. Winds continue from the east 15-20 mph and seas 3-4 feet (1 to 1.3 meters).

Tomorrow winds get pretty brisk, up to 30 mph in the evenings and seas will be choppy Monday through Wednesday.

Starting Thursday winds should calm somewhat and be fairly calm on Friday in advance of a weather system that should give us rain chances through the weekend and especially the following Monday. That is still a ways off and can change but there is hope for some rain to wet this dry season dust. Have a great Sunday!

March 18, 2022: Good morning, Roatan!

This is the time of year when our forecasts get boring. More of the same. East winds 15-20 mph during the day with 3-4 foot seas (1-1.3 meter) and 20-25 mph in the evening with 4-5 foot seas (1.3 to 1.6 meters). We’re still showing a small chance of rain Sunday night into Monday morning, but that’s the only rain in the near term. Longrange models are still trying to give us some rain the weekend of the 26th, but that can always change. Have a great Friday!

March 17, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! The wind is with us and will stay through the weekend. Expect east winds 15-20 mph and seas 3-4 feet (1 to 1.3 meters) during the day and 22-27 mph and seas 4-5 feet (1.3 to 1.6 meters) at night.

A very small chance of rain comes through Sunday night into Monday. Long-range models are trying to give us a chance of rain the weekend of the 26th.

March 16, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! No rain since yesterday morning and that will be the theme of our forecast going forward: dry and windy.

Today our east winds at 10-15 mph, getting up to 20 mph this evening, will be the calmest we will have for awhile. Seas today will be 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter).

Tomorrow they will be 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph in the evening. Seas will be 3 feet (1 meter) during the day and up to 5 feet (1.6 meters) in the evening.

Those conditions continue through the weekend into next week.

The next small chance of rain is Monday.

March 15, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Mid-island was the big winner when it comes to rain overnight, with .65 of an inch. Sandy Bay got a quarter of an inch. East end got under a tenth of an inch and West Bay only got a trace. It was also quite windy this morning, though I don’t have a reading on it as the weather station is still down and there isn’t another one on the south side of the island. Felt like it got up to 25 mph this morning.

Today will be mostly sunny with east winds 15-20 mph and seas 2-3 feet (.6 to 1 meter).

Tonight we will have another chance of rain, perhaps the best chance for the rest of the week.

Tomorrow after some morning clouds we will also be mostly sunny with winds 12-17 mph. Starting Friday things get quite windy, especially in the evenings and seas, especially on the south side will be quite choppy through the weekend. Have a great Tuesday!

March 14, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Most of us got a good dose of rain in the last 24 hours ending 8 a.m. On the east side, Punta Blanca has gotten 1.7 inches and was experiencing a shower right around 8, and Politilly and Coral View had about the same amount. Sandy Bay had .8 of an inch, and West End had .7, while West Bay only picked up a quarter of an inch and Utila had half an inch.

There are still clouds and showers around this morning, so we will continue to have the possibility of a scattered shower until about midmorning, after which skies will stay partly cloudy. Winds will remain calm most of the day, but will pick up to around 15 mph from the east toward evening. There will be a small chance of an overnight shower.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with east winds 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters). There will be a 20 percent chance of a passing shower tomorrow night.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy with winds from the east 10-15 mph during the day, gusting to 20 mph at night. Overnight there will be a 30 percent chance of a passing shower.

Thursday through Sunday the east winds pick up, gusting to 25 mph, especially at night, with little if any chance of rain. Have a great week!

March 13, 2022: Good morning Roatan! We actually got a brief shower in Jonesville Point at about 4:30 a.m. as did Politilly, which got .01 of an inch. Today we will have partly to mostly cloudy skies and a decent chance of seeing rain at some point during the day and overnight, though predicted rain totals are still pretty low, from a quarter to a half inch. The norther is stalled off the coast of Belize and Yucatan, testimony to the fact that winter is over. We’ll have east/northeast winds at 10 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Tomorrow whatever rain we get should end early, after which we will have partly cloudy skies and winds from the east at 5-12 mph and seas at 2 feet.

There will be a small chance of rain Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday winds get back to 15-20 mph from the east and will stay that way until Thursday night/Friday when the super gusty 20-25 mph east winds return for the weekend. After Tuesday morning things look pretty dry for the rest of the week.

March 12, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Winds should definitely get calmer today, with west winds taking over at 3-10 mph bringing our seas down to 2 feet (.66 meters). In comments I will post the satellite image which shows the front just now reaching Yucatan. But as you can see in the forecast map, the winds (shown with green) are forecast to dissipate as the front falls apart just south of Yucatan. This means no strong north winds for us and less rain than we usually get from a norther.

We will still have a chance of rain starting tomorrow morning and continuing through Monday morning, but models still give us between a quarter of an inch and half an inch. Winds will be east/northeast 10-15 mph with 2-3 foot waves tomorrow and from the east at 5-10 mph Monday with 1-2 foot waves.

By Monday evening, skies will be clearing and we will have east winds 12-17 mph. Next week looks mostly sunny with our best chance of rain being Thursday morning. Typical east winds will be the rule next week, with things getting windier as we get to the following weekend.

March 11, 2022: Good morning, Roatan! Another windy morning in the islands!

Today will be another windy day and night, with daytime winds from the east at 15-20 mph and nighttime winds 20-25 mph. Seas will be choppy at 3-5 feet (1 to 1.6 meters).

Tomorrow should be much calmer, as winds shift to the west 5-10 mph and seas calm a bit down to 2 feet (.6 meters) by afternoon.

Sunday is the day we will have a decent chance of rain. Most of us should see some sort of rain, but models don’t give us a whole lot, anywhere between a quarter to half an inch in most cases, so don’t expect an all-day rain. Winds will be east-northeast at 10-15 mph and seas at 2 feet (.6 meters).

Rain chances continue into Monday morning, but by late morning, the rain should have moved out and we will be back to 15-20 mph east winds and mostly clear skies. I’m seeing a little return of moisture for Thursday next week, but that rain chance will be relatively small. Have a great Friday!
