Weather summary for December and for 2021 as a whole

Summary for December 2021, as well as summary for the year:We’re putting 7.12 inches of rain in the books for December. Most locations on the island got between 6.5 and 7.5 inches for the month. Most of it came in the first couple of days of the month or in the middle of the month. The last couple of weeks have been fairly dry. For the month we were five inches short of our December average of 12.52 inches and that put us low for the year. In 2021 we just under 79 inches of rain, 90 percent of our annual average of 87.5 inches. But our rainfall has not been this close to average in a long tim. Last year we got an above-normal 107 inches and in 2019 we had a drought with only 55 inches.

There wasn’t much out of the ordinary in 2021, with no tropical storms coming anywhere near us.

Normally January brings us 11.3 inches of rain, the last of the wet months before our normally dry period of February through September. Have a great year!
