Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day is from Marcy Schwartz and shows Sunset in Calabash Bight. We had a few showers early this morning good for a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain. Scattered showers will be more common today, especially this evening. We also are watching for a norther Monday evening into Tuesday.

At 8:15 a.m. we can see lots of clouds and few showers around, but also some sun. The winds in the upper atmosphere are not very strong, so there these showers are moving slowly. This can mean that one location can get a shower that dumps a lot of rain and doesn’t move away quickly. Expect lots of scattered showers today. Tomorrow into the weekend, expect scattered showers, mostly overnights and mornings.

This is the Canadian model showing precipitation through Wednesday. You can see the cold front washing into the Caribbean and Atlantic. Most of the cold air is going into the Atlantic, but enough of it is coming our way that a wave of rain will run through the Bay Islands Monday night into Tuesday. Right now we’re looking at 4 inches of rain or so and north winds 12-17 mph and seas around 5 feet — not the worst of northers, but enough to make for a rainy, wavy day.

This time of year is perfect for ham for many folks. If you want the tastiest, juiciest ham around, head to Carniceria Rosita in Coxen Hole or French Harbour.

Lowest tide is 10 p.m. Have a great Thursday!
