Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day records last night’s full moon over Oakridge from Brooke Pizatti. Last night was the 100 percent full moon and it starts to decrease (wane) from here. These few clouds make for a hazy moon. We will see a few more of those clouds and some rain chances in our forecast.

Even if it isn’t raining on us (as of 7:30 a.m. none of our stations have received rain this morning) we can still tell it is raining nearby. Notice how the west side of the island is in the upper 80s and the east side is in the lower 80s? That indicates rain nearby and radar shows there is some passing to our north. It may miss us completely but will still cool us off momentarily.

I suspect some locations on Guanaja got some rain this morning, even though our reporting station didn’t pick up any. They are all the way down to 79 degrees. Quite fresh.
On the 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. satellite loop we can see rain and clouds near Guanaja moving to the west/southwest. I suspect we will at least see increasing clouds this morning if not a shower here or there, especially for east Roatan. We will probably mostly clear out midday and afternoon before the cycle of overnight and early morning scattered showers begins again. We will continue to have chances at scattered showers, mostly overnights and early mornings, through the week.
Wind and Galaxy Wave forecast: We start out the day with east winds 10 mph and seas 1-2 feet. We will see a calming trend in winds and seas and by the end of the week I expect to see some dead calm conditions, perfect for getting out on the sea. September in the islands is great if you want calm waters.
