Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day comes from Jonna Louise and shows a recent double rainbow near Calabash Bight. We had overnight showers in West Bay good for .02 and in Diamond Rock and Camp Bay with around a tenth of an inch around 2-3 a.m. and Guanaja has received around a tenth of an inch since sunrise. Chances for a few rainbows are in the forecast, but all showers should be brief.

On satellite you can see those popcorn clouds moving in to Guanaja, bringing a couple of morning showers. These clouds are moving to the northwest and look like they should miss most of Roatan, but there will be a chance of a popup shower this morning. Otherwise we should be mostly sunny. Small chances of rain, mostly overnight and mornings, will continue through the weekend into the new week.

This is the National Hurricane Center forecast map for the eastern Pacific. You will notice that the area of potential storm development is further from Central America. This is an indication that the Central American Gyre, the low pressure system that has been bringing us rain showers, continues to weaken and shift away from us.

Wind and Galaxy Wave forecast: We wake up to east winds 15 mph and seas 2 feet. We will calm midday and early afternoon to 10 mph and 1-2 feet, making today one of the calmer days we’ve had recently. Tomorrow we should have 15 mph east winds and 2-3 foot seas, while Monday looks a bit windier, with 20 mph daytime winds and 25 mph winds Monday night.

This time of year new residents of our islands from North America tend to shop for houses. If you are bringing a furry friend, check out Mitch Cummins Roatan Pets, which provides locally sourced, specially designed foods that maximize your pet’s health.

Low tide is 11:30 a.m. Have a great weekend!
