April 30, 2025

Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day comes from Phil Sikora and is a great stop-action photo of hummingbirds at his feeder. I love the fact that they are sipping from a Mason jar, just like how I sip my sweet tea.
Today is the final day of the April contest. I will be putting up the poll tomorrow evening because tomorrow morning I’m quite busy and may not even do a forecast. Voting will go through May 2 and the winner gets a copy of the awesome book Meet Me on Roatan by John Morris.

Our satellite this morning shows some clouds over the west side and in the 6 a.m. hour a few locations, including the Coxen Hole cruise port, got a shower. There are more clouds to our east so we will keep a small chance of a shower through the morning. The afternoon and evening should be dry, but we will keep a small chance of a shower in the forecast for tomorrow morning as well, but the trend is definitely drier, so I don’t think we will have rain at all Friday and Saturday. Sunday into the first part of next week we will see a few more clouds and chances of morning showers, but it doesn’t look like a lot of rain. Long-range forecasts are now trying to give us some rain in mid-May, but that is a long way off.

Wind and Galaxy Wave forecast: We wake up to east winds 10 mph and seas 1-2 feet. This afternoon through Friday looks like east winds 15 mph and seas 3 feet. The weekend may be slightly lower and the first part of next week looks quite calm.

May 2-4 you folks on the west side can purchase round-trip Roatan Ferry Galaxy Wave tickets to La Ceiba for 1000 lempiras, but only at the Roa Markets in West Bay, West End and Megaplaza.

We are pleased to announce that the sponsor of the May photo contest is Jolly Roger Roatan. The winner will get one adult tour ticket valued at $100, redeemable for a snorkel trip on a normal cruise day during the week including a rotisserie chicken lunch and, of course, a little something to drink. Winner must arrange the reservation with Jolly Roger in advance. Contact them in North America at +1-561-289-9881 or on the island at 9966-8669.

Lowest tide is 4:30 p.m. Don’t forget, you folks on the west side will be dealing with a RECO outage this morning. Get outside and enjoy the weather!
