Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day is probably recognizable to most of our readers as the view of West Bay Beach from the bar at Bananarama taken by Drew Schuller. Many of us have knocked down a couple of beers there. Seeing this clear blue reminded me that we are getting into the season that fires on the mainland often cause smoke. Last year the airport closed several times due to smoke, but this year I’m hopeful that our recent rains will keep the smoke a little less smoky. Usually it is at its worst early to mid May.

On satellite at 7:30 a.m. we see a popcorn cloud over Barbarat. Guanaja picked up .01 of an inch this morning, so it’s not impossible that some of those clouds to our east might bring a quick shower to someone, but most of us should stay dry. Today through Friday the forecast is dry. This weekend, especially Sunday, we may get a morning shower. Early next week also looks like morning showers will be possible.

Wind and Galaxy Wave forecast: We wake up to east winds 15 mph and seas 3 feet. We will stay around there through the week. This weekend winds should calm to 5-10 mph from the east northeast and seas 1-2 feet, so it will be a great weekend on the water.

When someone is considering moving to Roatan I usually warn them about the difficult plight of many dogs on the island. Roatan Operation Animal Rescue is doing something to make that plight better and Roatan Pets gives 10 percent of their proceeds to ROAR. So your pet gets nutritious food and helps out his furry buddies.

Low tides are 11:30 a.m. and 11:50 p.m. Have a great Wednesday!
