We had a close-to-average rainfall month for January. We are entering Sandy Bay’s 12.31 inches in the record books because, for consistency’s sake, we try to use the most accurate monitor in the same location of the island. But for most of the island, 7 to 10 inches was the range of rainfall totals for the month. Guanaja got just over 10 inches and Utila came in at a whopping 20 inches.

Looking ahead, February is a transition month into dry season, with an average of just over 5.21 inches, and most of that generally comes in the first week or two. In an average year, late February is pretty dry and the long-range forecast is definitely trending drier for us in February 2025.
