Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day comes from Sue Fall in Mahogany Hills looking toward French Harbour.
We’ve had a pretty quiet 24 hours, but things are going to get pretty rainy and windy, starting Sunday, which may be a day of heavy rains.

On satellite at 7:30 a.m. we see some popcorn clouds, especially over Utila. Utila has received about a tenth of an inch this morning and lesser amounts were received on Roatan. We will keep a chance of showers around this morning but we should be partly cloudy today and rain totals today will be low. Tomorrow we will have increasing clouds and a rain chances increase in the evening.

Let’s talk about Sunday. Both the Euro and the GFS are forecasting a significant amount of rain – 3-6 inches – just for Sunday. This will kick off a week with strong north winds and periods of heavy rain, but if the forecast comes true, Sunday may be the rainiest day of the week and the day we are most likely to hear thunder.

Wind and Galaxy Wave forecast: We start the day with north winds 10 mph and seas around 3 feet. Winds and seas should stay around that speed and strength today. Tomorrow winds will be north at 15 mph and seas 3-4 feet, Sunday 12-17 mph and seas 4 feet, Monday 17-23 mph and seas around 6 feet. We may get slightly calmer on Tuesday but Wednesday may be the windiest day of the week with north winds 20-25 mph and seas 6-7 feet.

We are looking for fresh weather with this norther, but especially so on Wednesday morning into Thursday morning. This map shows how much above or below average the temperature above our heads is (the temperature at surface is moderated by the sea). We will get our coldest air Wednesday, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see some 69 degree readings (20C) Thursday morning. 66F (18.9C) is the all-time record low on Roatan.

Lowest tide is 1:30 a.m. Have a great Friday!
