Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day comes from Trish Nixon in Calabash Bight. If we can get some sun to poke through the clouds we’ll see some of this mist coming off the trees. But we’ll be mostly cloudy and cool for a couple of days. Trish’s photo is the last photo in this month’s photo of the month contest. The five most-liked photos will compete tomorrow for $50 in Carniceria Rosita premium meat. Tomorrow’s photo of the day will compete in February’s competition.

Here’s yesterday’s rainfall. Most of us have been dry this morning, except Utila which has picked up a little rain, and Guanaja, which has picked up almost another inch with a steady overnight rain.

In the close-up satellite you can see we’re mostly cloudy, but Utila has heavier clouds at 7 a.m. which has given it quite a bit of rain this morning.

Rain forecast: In the wide satellite view you can see clear skies well to our north. It will take awhile for those clear skies to get here, perhaps not until Thursday. Until then we will have mostly cloudy skies with a few peaks of sunshine here and there. That will keep us cool with a north breeze. When the sun peaks through we might get to 80 (26.6 C) but when it’s cloudy we’ll mostly be in the 70s (low 20s C). We will have occasional light rain today. Tomorrow should be mostly dry, with a chance of rain in the evening. After that we should be dry until the next norther on Monday.
Wind forecast: We definitely had a wavy day yesterday. The highest wave picked up by a buoy was 8.5 feet. This morning we are around 5 feet, especially on the north side, with north winds 15-20 mph. The trend will be toward calming seas, with 4 foot seas by evening. Wednesday we will have a north breeze 7-12 mph and seas at 3 feet. Thursday the north breeze will be 5-10 mph and seas 2-3 feet. They look evening calmer end of the week into the weekend before another norther comes Monday.

We continue to be in a very mild period for high and low tides. Have a great Tuesday!
