Good morning Bay Islands. Our photo of the day comes from Bill Reiter at Turtle Crossing on the south side of West Bay and shows the sunrise at first light. The days are slowly starting to get a little longer but right now that is happening by sunsets being a little later in the day. Sunrises will be at 6:17 a.m. from now until Jan. 30. We’re going to start seeing a few clouds around but we’re mostly dry this weekend.

Rainfall forecast: We will start to see a few more clouds than we’ve been seeing and it isn’t impossible that sometime this weekend someone will see an isolated shower. We have a cold front to our north that will fall apart before it gets here, but it will pull in a few more clouds from the east. I’d put the chances at 20 percent, but most of us will stay dry until Wednesday evening/Thursday morning when a weak cold front gives us a 50/50 chance of a shower.
Wind forecast: Winds are relatively light and out of the south/southwest this morning with seas 2-3 feet. We’ll get a nice west breeze today 10-15 mph but the swell is still from the east, which will create some confusion as to wave direction, but we will stay generally around 2 feet today. Tomorrow looks quite calm with light winds and seas around 1 foot. Monday will start out calm but get windier toward evening with east winds picking up 15-20 mph and seas back up to 3 feet.
Extended forecast: Computer models are trying to give us a really good/wet norther Saturday evening (Jan. 20) through Monday (Jan. 22) but that’s a long way off and things can change.

Low tides are 4:40 p.m. and 4:40 a.m. Have a great weekend!
